Rap mogul Eminem’s sister-in-law, who reportedly struggled for years with homelessness and drug addition, was found dead in her home inside a trailer park near Detroit’s famous 8 Mile Tuesday.
Police say Dawn Scott, 40, died of a heroin overdose. Scott was a twin sister to Em’s wife, Kim.
According to Radar Online, Scott begged both Em and his wife for help for years, but the couple evidently decided to try tough love instead.
“I have a millionaire brother-in-law and a sister with money up the ass, but they’re refusing to give me any help,” Scott said. “It’s a betrayal. He’s been part of our family since he was 15!”
“One night I called my sister and told her I had nowhere to go,” Scott told Radar in August. “She said, ‘That’s not my problem. Don’t bother me,’ and hung up.”
A man who had been involved with Scott off and on for several years told Radar that Scott would try any and every drug she could get her hands on, and that he’d been trying for years to help her with her addiction–while also trying to convince Em and Kim to help her out as well.
Scott’s daughter is the adopted daughter of Eminem and Kim.
The “Slim Shady” rapper is said to be in shock.
Condolences to their family.
