Gainesville Man Gets Close To A Year In Jail Over Puppy Death

A Gainesville man was sentenced to 9 months in jail after he was charged with beating his puppy to death, according to The Gainesville Sun.

Meldwige Gregoire, 25, was also sentenced to three a and half years probation, and ordered to pay court costs and required take anger management classes.

Police say Gregoire admitted to stepping on the puppy’s leg and throwing the animal against a wall as “discipline”.

An autopsy of the puppy found the death attributable to “blunt force trauma” to the head, and the death was ruled “accidental”.
