Will Smith is finally speaking out on the much-discussed Oscars controversy that his wife helped kick off. In an interview this morning with Good Morning America, Will says neither he nor his wife has sour grapes over him not getting an Oscar nod for his role in the movie Concussion:
“For Jada, had I been nominated and no other people of color were, she would have made the video anyway,” he said. “This is so deeply not about me. This is about children that are going to sit down and they’re going to watch this show and they’re not going to see themselves represented.”
Jada’s now-infamous video calling out the Oscars for its lack of Black representation was widely believed to be her response to her hubby getting snubbed.
