A 9 year old Detroit boy is healing from a wound he suffered from a loaded gun he found on a neighbor’s lawn, which was fired accidentally, according to reports.
Few details are available in the tragic case, but The Detroit Free Press reports that the shooting happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday on the city’s west side. Officers arrived at the home and found the handgun on the lawn, and now believe the gun was fired accidentally.
The boy was rushed to an area hospital and was stabilized after being treated for a gunshot wound to his chest.
Detroit endured a particularly bloody Mother’s Day holiday weekend this year. There were 21 gunshot victims reported in the city, including 6 homicides.
