A suburban Atlanta police lieutenant was placed on administrative duty after video surfaced of him telling a suspected DUI driver, who is a white female, that she shouldn’t be nervous because, he tells the woman, “Remember, we only kill black people. We only kill black people, right?”
The video has sparked community outrage, and calls are growing for the policeman to be fired from the Cobb County Police Department.
The incident occurred in 2016. Lt. Greg Abbott was transferred from street patrol pending the outcome of a now-underway internal review.
Abbott has been a cop for 28 years, prompting many community members to ask how many times over that period he’s said similar things–or worse.
