President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress failed to get the requisite 50 votes they needed to overhaul the Affordable Care Act–more commonly known as Obamacare. But senior Republicans have indicated they will keep trying until they succeed.
Obamacare was President Obama’s signature accomplishment. The plan allows millions of previously uninsured Americans to gain access to health care plans.
Budget analysts have warned that repeal of Obamacare could leave millions of Americans once again uninsured.
Congressional Demcorats–who unanmously opposed the repeal effort–breathed a sigh of relief at the effort’s collapse.
Some Republican leaders, however, have promised to try and undo the act again in 2018.
For now, though, Obamacare seems to be safe.
