Fans of the “Rush Hour” movie franchise will be happy to hear that the 4th installment of the super-successful films is coming in 2018 IF, according to co-star Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker is down with the project.
“For the last seven years, we’ve been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed. The script probably at the end of this month will have a second draft and next year, [we’ll] probably start. If, Chris Tucker agrees.”, Chan said in a recent interview.
That probably means its a GO because Tucker had previously said he was interested in doing another installment with Chan.
But neither of the actors are spring chickens, which Chan pointed out, so time is of the essence. It can be dangerous for old men to do movie stunts, which Tom Cruise learned recently.
The original ‘Rush Hour’ hit theaters back in 1998. Today, Chan is 63; Tucker is 46.
In the same interview, Chan denied that money had interfered with he and Tucker reprising their roles before now. It was rumored that Chan had been holding out for a much larger payday than Tucker.
“It’s not about money! It’s about [having the] time to make. Otherwise, ‘Rush Hour 4’, we’re all old men. I tell Chris Tucker, ‘Before we get old, please do Rush Hour 4.’”
‘Rush Hour’ is one of the most successful film franchises of all time, grossing nearly $1 billion combined worldwide at the box office.
