On Friday the Trump adminstration voided a requirement that mandated employers provide birth control coverage in their ObamaCare plans.
Critics of the move say its Trump’s latest tactic to chip away at ObamaCare, after he failed to generate enough congressional support to have the health law repealed.
The new directive allows employers to ignore the old mandate on moral and religious grounds. The rule takes effect immediately.
The new policy could affect millions of women who previously were able to get the coverage with no co-pay.
Lawsuits could be filed over the move. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) previously said they would file litigation if Trump instituted the new policy.
