TV One has decided to cancel its informative 4 year old program, “News One Now,” which is hosted by news journalist Roland S. Martin.
In a brief tweeted statement, TV One said that Martin would “continue to have a voice on #TVOne.”
“We are committed to providing quality news to our viewers and to our long-standing relationship with @rolandsmartin #NewsOneNow who will continue to have a voice on #TVOne.”
The news shocked Martin’s fans, many of whom claimed they were daily viewers of the show, which focused on political news and information specific to African-American communities.
The show’s last episode airs Dec. 21.
Since the news of the cancellation broke, Martin, an avid social media user, has been busy tweeting and retweeting inspirational messages from stunned followers.

Sorry to hear this. The show will be missed but I know your voice will still be heard. I look forward to seeing where you gather influence next. Keep up the good work.

I didn’t always agree with some of things you said on your show. But never have I ever downplayed it’s importance to our people. I was always disgusted when I talked to some of our people whom have NEVER watched your show. #KeepGrinding.
