Atlanta Hawks player Deandre Bembry was arrested after cops caught him driving 128 MPH in a 55 MPH zone on Buford Highway, a busy stretch of road that is a heavily commercial area dotted with a number of apartment complexes.
Most Atlantans know that Buford Highway is not the place you wanna speed; the miles-long highway runs through several municipalities, and all of them have speed traps.
But maybe Deandre didn’t hear about that?
He was arrested behind the wheel of his cherished purple Dodge Charger, pictured above.
He was taken to the city jail and released on a cash bond.
Deandre made headlines last Christmas after he gave his mom a brand new BMW and Rolex watch. Bembry has credited his mother, Essence, for being the catalyst that spearheaded his success.
He was drafted by the currently last place Hawks in 2016–two weeks after his brother was shot and killed while reportedly trying to break up a fight in Charlotte.
Deandre suffered a groin injury and has not played since Dec. 22.
