Police in Dekalb county, Georgia are searching for a gunman who opened fire at a car being driven by a young woman with her toddler son in his car seat.
When the gunfire ended, 3 year old T’Rhigi Craig was dead–3 days after he celebrated his birthday.
“We believe (the shooter/s) thought someone else was driving the car,” DeKalb police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell said.
Police say the shooter–who was driving a gray Dodge Charger–may have assumed someone else was driving the car little T’Rhigi was riding in.
The baby boy’s death has shocked the metro Atlanta community, and understandably devastated T’Rhigi’s family.
“I didn’t know my baby was shot, I’m thinking he just woke up. The gunshot scared him,” Rashonda Craig, T’Rhigi’s, mother said.
Police have not released any further suspect details.
