Singing legend R. Kelly’s alleged sex cult and the accusations surrounding it will be profiled in a Lifetime project, according to reports.
Dream Hampton will executive produce the docuseries, which will take a look at Kelly, his inner circle, and so-called “survivors” of his alleged sex ring.
“Some very brave black women have trusted us with their stories, their truth and their trauma,” Hampton said of the docuseries in a statement. “They are survivors and I’m honored to share their stories with the world.”
Several women have recently leveled accusations of coercion and physical abuse against Kelly, who was once the undisputed King of R&B.
But Kelly has long faced criticism over unseemly activities which are well-known to the public so need to go there here.
The new series doesn’t have a title yet, but from the sound of it, it doesn’t sound like it’ll paint a flattering picture of Kelly.
The film may be the latest in the superstar’s woes: last year, a former friend broke into two of the singer’s rented Atlanta mansions, taking off with everything. That friend later faced criminal charges.
