Gainesville Man Storms Police Department, Threatens To Kill Cops and Chief with Pocket Knife

A 35-year-old Gainesville man who said the department’s task force wouldn’t “leave him the f*** alone”, allegedly stormed the Gainesville police station, armed with pocket knives, and said he was gonna kill some cops, according to The Gainesville Sun.

“Where is the Chief?!”, Joseph Lee Roberts, 35, demanded, according to a police arrest report. Roberts was referring to Gainesville Police Chief Tony Jones.

What Roberts got instead was Tasered, a cold bunk at the county jail, and multiple felony counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and a resisting arrest charge.

Its unclear if Roberts is mentally ill–there’s no information to confirm that, or if he was on something during the bizarre incident.

Multiple felonies aside, some residents wondered on social media why Roberts was not charged with terrorism.

He was booked into the Alachua County Jail on $40,000 bail.
