R&B singer Lloyd is back with a new album: Tru is Lloyd’s first full studio album since 2011’s King Of Hearts; however, Tru is a continuation from the 2016 album of the same name. But Lloyd added another 7 tracks to the album.
Lloyd said he bared his soul–and his body–on the new project, which featured a pic of the crooner butt booty naked in the woods with the exception of a guitar–which he had stuffed in front of his dangalang, pubes clearly visible.
Lloyd shrugged off accusations that the nude album cover was a publicity stunt and said the project is about life experiences.
“I wanted to put a lot of soul into it, you know? Kind of comparing music to food, I would say the goal was to stay as far away from fast food as possible and to focus on soul food. Definitely a lot of humanizing moments for me as an artist and as a man. Just talking about family, talking about the loss of loved ones, and now that I’m experiencing fatherhood, I’m kind of talking about that as well,” Lloyd said about the LP.
Lloyd’s new album drops just as he and longtime girlfriend, Dehea Abraham, are awaiting the birth of their second child, which Lloyd recently told Essence Magazine is due “any day now”.
