Nicki Minaj has opted out of her much-hyped tour with rapper Future. According to a LiveNation statement, Minaj wants to devote more time to “rehearsal”–and so the show won’t go on. At least not until next year.
“Nicki has decided to contribute more time to rehearsal ahead of the tour’s launch to make certain her fans get the absolute best quality show that they deserve.”, reads a press statement issued by LiveNation.
Minaj will reportedly resume her North American tour–minus Future–in May 2019; Future reportedly has prior commitments that will preclude him from taking part in Minaj’s tour during that time.
The tea being whispered, however, is that Future didn’t want to be part of a non-selling tour: Page Six reports that sales for the tour were “in the toilet”:
A Live Nation source told us, “Nicki’s tour could be the most disappointing ticket sales of the year for any artist. These are big arenas with up to 20,000 capacities. Sales for opening night in Baltimore is 2,000 tickets. LA is 3,400, New Orleans 1,000, Denver 1,300, Chicago 3,900. Even her hometown Brooklyn is only 5,050.”–Page Six
Minaj is struggling to make a comeback after being forced to take a back seat to fellow New York femcee Cardi B., who has dominated both 2017 and 2018.
Nicki Minaj’s newest album, Queen, is currently at #2 on the Billboard charts.
