Dallas rapper Yella Beezy was shot and hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot by an assailant who pulled up alongside him and opened fire on a freeway in suburban Dallas early Sunday morning.
Police identified the victim as Deandre Conway, and managers for Oak Cliff rapper Yella Beezy confirmed the performer had been shot Sunday.
Police have not determined a motive for the shooting, Capt. Dan Rochelle said. No arrests have been made.–Dallas Morning News
The Dallas-bred rapper opened for Beyonce and Jay-Z during the couple’s recent tour stop in nearby Arlington, Texas.
No suspects have been identified, and no motive was reported by police. However, XXL Magazine said the shooting could be retaliation.
It is unclear whether or not this is a road rage incident, but news of the shooting has the internet speculating that it could have something to do with a beef with comedian Roylee Pate, who died due to a blood clot after being shot earlier this month.–XXL Magazine
Beezy is said to be recovering from three gunshot wounds and is reported to be in stable condition.
Yella Beezy is currently riding near the top of the charts with his hit track, “That’s On Me”, which is a radio staple and has garnered more than 85 million hits on YouTube.
