Police Remove Suspected Pipe Bomb Package Addressed To Robert DeNiro As Fear Grows Over How Many Devices Could Be In Circulation

Legendary veteran actor Robert De Niro joined a growing and ominous list of high-profile Democrats who have been targeted with pipe bombs sent through the nation’s mail delivery system, according to CNN.

X-ray images show that the package addressed to De Niro contains a device similar to the pipe bombs found in other packages this week that were addressed to prominent Democrats, the two sources said.

The package sent to the actor also had the same return address as the others: that of Democratic US Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, the sources said. There is no information to suggest she sent the packages.

The package was discovered in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood in a building where the actor houses his film production company.

De Niro is the latest critic of President Donald Trump to be targeted in the would-be attacks, with packages having been mailed nationwide to former President Barack Obama; former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; former Attorney General Eric Holder; Democratic US Rep. Maxine Waters (one to her California office and one to her office in Washington); former CIA director John Brennan (sent to CNN’s New York offices); and billionaire investor and Democratic donor George Soros.

Authorities fear there could be more of the volatile packages that have yet to be discovered.

No one has been hurt by any of the packages, which law enforcement has recovered and defused.

The ongoing federal investigation has not turned up any suspects.
