Transaction declined? President Donald Trump appears to have reneged on his seeming offer to pay $1 million to the charity of Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s choosing if she were able to prove she has Native American ancestry–which she in fact proved after taking a recent DNA test.
“Who cares?” Trump said when asked about Warren’s DNA test results. The President also denied saying he ever agreed to pay any bet. “I didn’t say that. You better read it again.”
Warren’s Native ancestry, though, is from about 8 generations ago, so its way down the line.
CNN quoted Trump back in July when at a rally the network said Trump offered this about Warren: “And we will say, ‘I will give you a million dollars, paid for by Trump, to your favorite charity if you take the test and it shows you’re an Indian … we’ll see what she does. I have a feeling she will say no but we will hold it for the debates.”
Trump had previously given Warren the nickname of ‘Pocahontas’ because Warren was revealed to have claimed Native American genealogy on an Association of American Law Schools directory.
Trump and Warren’s detractors say Warren claimed native American ancestry to advance her career, which Warren denies.
