Producer and playwright Tyler has dropped the trailer to his upcoming new film, A Madea Family Funeral, which Perry said would be the last “Madea’ movie ever.
Its been widely speculated by Madea fans that the gun slinging grandma will be killed off or drop dead in the new movie.
Perry said in a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon that he doesn’t want to play Madea until he’s her age:
“That’s it, man. That’s it. It’s time for me to bury that old broad man. I’m sick of that old bitch”, Perry told Fallon.
“She’s had a run,” Perry continued. “I don’t want to be her age playing her, so it’s time for me to let it go.”
Perry has been performing Madea since 1999, when she was 68, so she’d be about 87 years old now.
Perry said he would embark on a ‘Madea Farewell Tour’ next year and then its kaput for the franchise.
Madea has made Perry a boatload of dough: aside from a number of successful plays and movies, Perry has gone on to produce well-liked television shows and has built an empire off the back of Madea that is estimated at $500 million.
A Madea Family Funeral hits theaters on March 1, 2019.
