Longtime Trump Associate Roger Stone Indicted, Arrested By Feds In Late Night Raid

Longtime Trump friend, confidant and associate Roger Stone was indicted and subsequently had his home raided by federal authorities during a pre-dawn raid overnight, according to news reports.

Roger Stone, a longtime aide and confidant of President Donald Trump, was arrested early Friday morning by the FBI after being indicted on charges he lied to Congress and obstructed the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The seven-count indictment alleges Stone misled lawmakers on the committee about his efforts to communicate with WikiLeaks and his contacts with the Trump campaign. It also accuses Stone of attempting to intimidate another witness: radio host Randy Credico, who was in contact with WikiLeaks head Julian Assange in 2016.–POLITICO

Stone was arraigned at 11 a.m. Friday at the federal courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. A Washington D.C. grand jury approved the indictment Thursday.

Stone, who news reports said expected to be indicted for months, becomes the latest Trump associate to find himself indicted as Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s inquiry into potential Trump campaign collusion with Russia chugs along.

A longtime political strategist and campaign coordinator, Stone is charged with federal obstruction. Its unclear if he’ll receive a pardon from President Donald Trump before he goes to trial.

Meanwhile, CNN aired footage of the raid and it became a trending topic on social media.
