Russell Wilson Now The Highest-Paid NFL Player After Signing $140 Million Contract Extension

The Seattle Seahawks have made quarterback Russell Wilson the NFL’s highest paid player after they reportedly agreed to terms that will extend the center’s contract to 2023–and put $140 million into his pocket.

Wilson led the Seahawks to an unexpected playoff appearance last season after the team lost several core players during the offseason. Before the season began, many NFL watchers pegged the Seahawks to fall flat and bring up the rear of the NFC West.

It was also expected that Wilson would fall back after losing those familiar faces in the line-up.

But the Seahawks made it into the postseason, largely on the strength of Wilson’s capability although they were bumped out in the first round by the Dallas Cowboys.

The Seahawks are now placing a big bet on Wilson to help keep the team a winning one.
