VH-1 Honors 90s “Game Changers”; Mariah Carey’s Non-Moving Performance Draws Criticism

VH-1 rolled the clock back with a medley of performances by some of the top names in music from a generation ago with its “Hip-Hop Honors: The ’90s Game Changers”, which aired last night.

This event honored Martin Lawrence, Mariah Carey and other ’90s “game changers” for their impact on music and television.

To kick things off, Missy Elliott performed her 1999 hit, “She’s A B*tch,” complete with a stage recreation of the Hype Williams-directed music video.

Besides Elliott, the performance roster included Carey, Lil’ Kim, Trina and Trick Daddy, Remy Ma, Xscape, and a special tribute to Jermaine Dupri and Master P.

But it was Mariah Carey’s performance that had the most tongues wagging, and not in a good way. The iconic songbird was put on blast across social media for appearing to lazily lounge on a Jet Ski and then stand while performing her songs, barely moving at all.

Mariah Carey was also once again accused of lip synching her way through portions of her music.

This is just the latest on-stage scandal to plague Carey, who has endured a number of embarrassing, performance mishaps over the years.
