Michael Bloomberg Considering Hillary Clinton As His VP Running Mate

Former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg ain’t playin’ no games.

With deep pockets, a national network of surrogates and plenty of rank and file folks ready to go all in to help him reach the White House, the former NYC mayor may already have his choice in mind for vice president: Hillary Clinton, the former First Lady/Senator/Secretary Of State.

Clinton also ran as the Democratic nominee for president in 2016, winning the popular vote by about 3 million votes but falling short to Donald Trump in the electoral college.

Bloomberg endorsed longtime friend Clinton in the 2016 presidential race.

Bloomberg is rapidly gaining national momentum, buffeted by a broad campaign to re-introduce himself to African-American and Latino voters nationwide, and has begun moving up in the polls: A recent survey found him in 3rd place nationally, behind only Sen. Bernie Sanders and South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg.

Bloomberg reportedly will continue to self-fund his entire campaign; according to reports, he has already spent upwards of $300 million on the race.

A survey released on Thursday showed Bloomberg leading the race in the all-important state of Florida, and in second in Georgia.

The eventual Democratic nominee will be widely expected to choose a minority running mate, specifically if the nominee is a White male. Either a woman or person of color would almost have to be picked under that scenario because the Democratic base largely expects it.

Clinton, a familiar though in some circles polarizing figure, could make a lot of sense for Bloomberg: She’s an experienced female who has 100% name ID and, brings her own still-intact fan base, and after spending decades being hated on by Republicans, is battle tested.

And, again, she beat Trump in the popular vote just 3 years and 3 months ago.

According to news sources, Bloomberg campaign officials declined to deny or confirm Clinton is Bloomberg’s preferred running mate.
