Two Former NFL Players Arrested, Charged With Possessing 157 Pounds Of WEED Found In Rental Car; Could Get Up To 20 Years In Prison

Two former NFL players are sitting in the El Paso, Texas jail facing federal charges that accuse them of possessing 157 pounds of weed, according to reports.

Former Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Greg Robinson, 27, and Jaquan Tyreke Bray, 26, who played for three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, face charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

The federal indictment alleges the two athletes convinced a man who drives for Uber to drive them in their rental car from Los Angeles to Louisiana with the stash but things got sticky when the trio was stopped at a checkpoint in Texas.

Robinson allegedly tried to convince the driver to take the fall for the weed once inspectors ordered the car to be searched, with the promise of “paying up” later. The driver refused, and claimed he didn’t know the car had drugs in it.

Upon searching, 157 pounds of weed concealed in multiple travel bags was allegedly found.

Its unclear if both footballers were hard up for cash, since both have recent playing time in the big-money NFL.

Robinson last played pro football this past season. He was infamously ejected during a game against the Tennessee Titans after he kicked a Titan player in the head.

Bray is listed as a current member of the Canadian League’s Montreal Alouettes. Bray’s mother was murdered by his father in 2011, when Bray was 17 years old. Bray’s father, Jeffrey Jones, was sentenced to life without parole.

Both men previously played for Auburn University.

Both Robinson and Bray have been jailed with no bond pending an appearance before a U.S. Magistrate today.

El Paso and the Sierra Blanca checkpoint have busted celebrities before, and the Blanca checkpoint has been labeled “The Checkpoint Of The Stars because of the number of celebs who have been busted for drug possession there, and that includes Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Nelly and Fiona Apple; all were arrested for possession of marijuana.

However, a local sheriff famously began declining to jail people for smaller marijuana infractions several years ago.
