Its K. Michelle vs. Black Twitter Over R. Kelly Tweet

Songstress K. Michelle is not the household name she once was, but she still knows how to become a trending topic–and a target for the ire of Black Twitter–after she offered a tweet early Wednesday in which she bemoaned the treatment her friend and mentor, disgraced and imprisoned R&B crooner R. Kelly, has received from the world–which she refers to as being “crucified”.

According to Michelle, Kelly is merely suffering from a “sickness”.

She should know, she says, because she holds a psychology degree from Florida A&M.

Curious onlookers from the Black Twitter universe began responding to Michelle over the seemingly supportive tweet for a man now widely viewed as a pedophile.

Michelle tried to bring the focus to her Country music album she said is coming in February, but commenters were more interested in discussing her tweets about Kelly.

According to K. Michelle, who began launching defensive tweets, irritated by the response she was receiving, she wasn’t defending anybody, and also tweeted that she has had “conversations” with some of Kelly’s alleged victims in which she offered her help.

Meanwhile, R. Kelly is cooling his heels in a Chicago jail, awaiting trial on sex charges. Rather than being the creative muse Michelle said she wishes he were here to be, he’s trying to dodge a prison sentence that could put him away permanently.

Its familiar terrain for a man who has been facing allegations of underage sexual involvement since the early 1990s, when he reportedly married an underage Aaliyah.

Here’s how Black Twitter responded to K. Michelle:
